TO: FROM: DATE: SUBJECT: Mayor & City Council Pat Klaers, City AdaPtor August 25, 1997 Conveyor Relocation and Related Work In discussing the liquor store furniture, fixture, and equipment, it was noted that the existing conveyor in the liquor store is in very good condition. In this regard, the construction manager evaluated the possibility of relocating the conveyor to the new store, therefore saving the city some money. The attached material from Construction Manager Mike Parsons of Greystone Construction Company indicates that the low quote to relocate the existing conveyor is from Blatzheim Industries, Inc. in the amount of $2,775. This quote also includes the relocation of the beer chute, cardboard baler, and reconditioning of the conveyor. As a back up the city always the elevator in the new store to move the products up and down from the basement storage to the main floor. The pricing ranged from $10,644 to $17,500. The reuse of the conveyor equipment and beer bottle retum chute saves the City money and keeps the material out of the landfill. The facility is not compromised by re-using the equipment. The budget is $5,000. The current cost status report indicates a projected amount of $8,875. The recommended award to Blatzheim Industries Inc. represents a savings to the project of apx. ($ 6,100).
