TH 10/SIMONET DRIVE LEFT TURN LANE
CONSTRUCTION BIDS
Dear Council Members:
We have tabulated the construction bids opened on August 28, 1997 for the construction of the
left turn lane on TH 10 at Sim°net Drive. There were a total of two' bidders. The bidders and
their total bids are listed below:
1. Thomas and Sons $319,272.60
2. Progressive Contractors Inc. $365,410.50
Thomas and Sons has preformed this type of construction activity in the past, and their total bid
is within the estimate for the project. We have already submitted the information to M.[VDOT
and have received a verbal concurrence with the award of the bid to Thomas and Sons.
Therefore, we would recommend the City Council award of the TH 10/Simonet Drive Left Turn
Lane contract to Thomas .and Sons, as the lowest responsible bidder. Attached is a resolution
for the City Council's consideration, which accepts the bid and authorizes the executior~ of the
contract with Thomas and Sons.
If you have any questions regarding this issue, I will be in attendance at your City Council
meeting on Monday evening.

A RESOLUTION FOR THE CITY OF ELK RIVER
A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING BID AND AUTHORIZING
EXECUTION OF CONTRACT IN THE MATTER OF THE
SIMONET DRIVE/TH 10 LEFT TURN LANE IMPROVEMENT OF 1997
WHEREAS
WHEREAS
pursuant to Resolution 97-72, competitive bids were solicited and receipted for
the Simonet Drive/TH 10 Left Turn Lane improvement as set forth in the bid
tabulation attached hereto and incorporated herein by this reference; and
the City Council has considered the amount of the bids and the responsibility of
the bidders and determined that Thomas and Sons, Inc. is the lowest responsible
bidder;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Elk River, Minnesota:
The Mayor and City Administrator are authorized and directed to execute, on behalf of
the City, such contract with Thomas and Sons, Inc. as is approved by the City A~torney
for the completion of the Simonet Drive/TH 10 Left Turn Lane improvement according to
the approved plane and specifications designated in Resolution 97-72.
The City Administrator is authorized and directed to forthwith return to all bidders the
deposits made with their bids upon execution of the contract above specified.
