Hiring COPS Fast Officer

In January of 1997, I requested and received approval to hire two
(2) COPS Fast Officers. Since then we tested for those positions.
After the testing process was completed, it became known that the
State Legislature was considering imposing levy limits. As a
result of this information, hiring these two (2) officers was
delayed. After information became available that there was a
special levy outside of the levy limits for COPS Fast Officers, we
attempted to fill the positions. Unfortunately we were only able
to find one (1) suitable candidate.
I am, therefore, requesting authorization to hire Dale Olmsheid as
a Police Officer. Dale is currently a part time Police Officer for
the City of Waite Park.
We are in the process of conducting a new selection process. Our
hope is to have this process completed and make a recommendation to
the City Council by December.
