Consider City Sponsorship of
Council Member Thompson and Park
and Recreation Commissioner Huberty
in the Chamber Leadership Program
When the first Chamber Leadership Program was conducted two years ago,
the city contributed $1,000 to help sponsor the program. Additionally, Park
and Recreation Commission Member Robin Tuttle participated in the
program and the city paid her registration fee.
The second Chamber Leadership Program is scheduled to begin in early
September, 1997. The city has agreed to help sponsor the program and, in
this regard, has again contributed $1,000 to help the Chamber cover
expenses. Additionally, Park and Recreation Commission Member Lana
Huberty and City Councilmember Daryl Thompson are participating in the
program. It is appropriate for the City Council to consider paying the $325
registration fee for each of these two city representatives. Staff supports this
expenditure out of the City Council Contingency Fund, and encourages other
members of city boards and commissions to consider registration in this
program.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the City Council sponsor the participation of
Commissioner Huberty and Councilmember Thompson in the Chamber
Leadership Program and that the registration fees come from the City
Council Contingency Fund.
