CONSIDER HIRING A BUILDING/
HOUSING INSPECTOR
City staff interviewed five of the potential candidates to fill the recently
vacated position of building/housing inspector. Our unanimous choice to fill
this position is Jay Carlson.
Jay is currently working as a building inspector for the City of St. Cloud and
is living in St. Michael. Mr. Carlson is State certified in onsite sewage
treatment facilities and building codes. He also holds International
Conference of Building Officials certifications as a building inspection and
plans examiner and has earned 78 credits towards a A. A. Degree in Building
Inspection Technology.
Staff is recommending Mr. Carlson is hired at a pay grade 13, step J, which
is $18.60 per hour. This wage is fairly close to what he is currently earning.
Following a successful probationary period, Jay's first increase in pay will be
a step increase on July 1, 1998.
