SUBJECT: Major Park Use -Use of Lions Park fora 4`" of July Event
Re uest
The Elk River American Legion has requested the use of Lions Park on Monday, July 4~' to
hold a community 4`s of July celebration event. The rental period would run from 10:00 a.m.
- 11:00 p.m. with the actual event time being held in the evening. The group plans to hold a
concert in the Lions Park Bandshell and then shoot of fireworks from the High School
stadium field. They expect approximately 3,000 people to attend the event.
Information for~our consideration
• This is a resident non-profit group.
• This request will also be routed through the city special event permit request process
to address additional issues such as police presence and street logistics.
Staff Recommendations
• All facility rental fees be waived.
• The Parks and Recreation Department provide trash cans for the event.
• The group will be required to provide additional portable toilets at the groups'
expense as needed.
