ACTION REQUESTED
City Council is asked to approve the award of the hail damage reroof project to Timber Top Roofing.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
Earlier this year, the League of Minnesota Cities adjuster Mike Coulter reviewed a number of City
buildings and shelters. His analysis indicated a number of shelters and buildings had hail damage and were
in need of repair. With the assistance of the insurance adjuster, specifications were developed and an
advertisement for bid was prepared.
On June 4, 2011 the reroof project was advertised, a mandatory bid meeting was held on June 15, 2011,
and the bid opening was on June 24, 2011. Three bids were received to reroof buildings and shelters at
Lions Park, Rivers Edge, Orono Park, Pinewood Golf Course, and the Youth Athletic Complex (YAC).
The bids results were as follows:
Chuba $104,225
Falcon Exteriors $93,336
Timber Top Roofing $76,978
In addition, a number of park signs were also damaged and will need to be repainted. I am obtaining
quotes for the painting and the lowest quote will be included in the insurance claim.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The $10,000 deductible will be funded from the insurance reserve fund.
