SUBJECT: Discussion of EDA Donation Policy
At the June 13~' Economic Development Authority meeting, the EDA directed staff to
research a donation policy. Research of other communities show that it is not common
practice for communities to consider requests for contributions and simply have a `no
donation' policy. Discussion with City Attorney Peter Beck indicated that he does not
recommend the EDA have a written donation policy, however the EDA could consider
requests on a case by case basis.
Options for discussion:
• No donation policy
• Donation requests considered on a case by case basis
• Written donation policy
In the past, the EDA has contributed $6,000 annually to the Community 4`'' of July
Celebration and have considered other requests on a case by case basis.
If the EDA chooses to move forward with a written donation policy, staff will bring back a
policy for review at a later date.
