Council motion adopting a resolution acknowledging a donation of $1000 to the police
department by Great River Energy for use by the bike team to upgrade equipment.
Background/Discussion
Great River Energy is a long standing and valuable business in the City of Elk River. Great River
Energy has made a donation in the amount of $1000 to the City earmarked for use by the police
department bike team to upgrade equipment.
The police department has utilized police mountain bike teams for over a decade to patrol remote
areas of the city, work special events, and work directed enforcement details in which the
characteristics of the mountain bike make them an extremely effective tool. The police
department will use the donation to purchase two new mountain bikes. The used bikes will be
rotated in to the police reserve unit.
Financial Impact
The donation will have a positive impact of $1000 on the police budget.

RESOLUTION ACKNOWLEDGING
CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE
CITY OF ELK RIVER
WHEREAS, the City of Elk River is grateful to all civic groups, organizations, and
individuals for their contributions to the community; and
WHEREAS, the Ciry of Elk River received a $1000 donation from Great River Energy with
the intent it be used by the Elk River Police Department for Police Bike Team Equipment;
and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Ciry Council of the City of Elk River
to acknowledge the support and commend Great River Energy for their donation.
Passed and adopted by the Ciry Council of the City of Elk River this 18th day of July, 2011.
