RE: TH 101 at CSAH 144 Interchange
Dear Mr. Seifert:
The City of Elk River hereby= empresses its support for the City of Rogers application for
federal funding through the Surface Transportation Program (STP) for the construction of
the TH 101 at CSAH 144 Interchange.
The City of Elk Ri~Tex recognizes the improved ability fox local, business, and regional traffic
to pass through and move more quickly toward Elk River and beyond with the recent
construction of the TH 101 flyover of South Diamond Lake Road in Rogers and the
construction of interchanges at CSAH 36, CSAH 37, CSAH 42, and CSAH 39. The TH 101
at CSAH 144 intersection is the last northbound, at grade intersection for TH 101 between
I-94 and the City of Elk River.
The Elk River Comprehensive Plan specifically references the TH 101/169 Corridor
Management Plan completed by the State of Minnesota. This project will provide safety
benefits to the traveling public and will provide economic relief to residents and businesses
within the City of Elk River.
The City of Elk River supports the funding of projects, such as this interchange, that are
multi-jurisdictional, improve safety for the region, improve economic conditions for
communities outside the metro area, and have committed funding sources for the project
from all of those benefitting agencies. The provision of STP funding will allow this project
to move forward to benefit the region.
Considering the local and regional benefit to the communities located along the TH 101/169
corridor, the City of Elk River provides its support for this project and the STP application.
Please contact me if you have any questions regarding our support of this project.
Sincerely,
John Dietz, Mayor
City of Elk River
