Purchase of a Field Groomer
I would like to suggest the purchase of a 1991 Cushman 4-wheel Turf
Truckster to be used for maintaining the recreation softball fields at a cost of
$6,500 plus tax.
The 1998 budget identifies $10,000 from park equipment reserves to
purchase two groomers; one to do the school and Oak Knoll fields and one
to do the ERYAC fields (formerly known as Cass fields).
Cushman Motors of Minneapolis has a fall inventory reduction sale so the
price on the Truckster is $500 to $1,000 lower than it will be in the spring.
The City of Minnetonka traded this unit in as a normal fleet rotation. The
vehicle has about 1,000 hours of usage with a life span of 2,500 to 3,000
hours.
· The Minnetonka park superintendent told me that the unit was in good
operating condition.
· The remaining budget amount can be used to purchase a lesser machine
for the ERYAC fields at a later date.
Recommendation
Staff recommends City Council authorization to purchase a 1991 Cushman
4-Wheel Turf Truckster at a cost of $6,500 plus tax.
