BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION Council is asked to call a special meeting for Monday, August 22 in order to narrow down the candidates that the City Council will interview for the city administrator position. Council should review the attached memo from Sharon Klumpp outlining the proposed timeline for the city administrator selection process. At the August 22 meeting, Sharon will go over the timeline in more detail to determine if there are any conflicts with Councilmember schedules. At that meeting, Council may need to call special meetings for the first round of tours and interview dates. Each application has been reviewed in accordance with the minimum requirements and the desired qualifications established in the City Administrator Position Profile. The review criteria included having a master's degree and at least seven years of management experience, organizational leadership skills, a broad understanding of municipal finance and experience increasing organizational efficiency and developing and implementing long range plans. Of the 71 applicants, we are contacting 13 individuals and scheduling screening interviews to build on the information included in their applications. Our first interview is scheduled for today; we project that the interviews will be completed by August 17. Candidate materials will be distributed to the City Council on August 19, a one-week delay from the June 6 project schedule. Proposed dates for the remainder of the project are provided below.
