Consider Advertising for Planning
Intern Position
Planning Intern, Brady Halverson, has submitted his resignation to leave
the City of Elk River in two weeks. During the time Brady was employed
with the City, some planning/design work has been done which I believe has
been very beneficial to visualize the end product of a project or development.
I think this planning position with the strong design background is a critical
component of not only the Planning Department but also Economic
Development and Parks & Recreation. Therefore, it is requested the Council
approve advertising for the Planning Intern position so this position can be
filled as soon as possible.
Upon finding a qualified candidate for the position, staff will return to the
City Council with a request for hiring along with a compensation package.

SUBJECT: Termination of My Internship
This memo is to inform you that I am resigning my position as Planning
Intern for the City of Elk River. My reasons for leaving relate primarily to
the difficulties associated with a daffy 80-mffe round-trip commute. I want to
stress that my decision to leave was in no way influenced by you or by the
position itself. The experience has been all that I'd expected and the working
environment could not have been better. I only hope the city was equally
pleased with my performance.
It is my intention to work for two more weeks to wrap up works in progress
and give the city time to find a suitable replacement if it so chooses. I'll do all
that I can to assist in this process with respect to recruiting and screening
qualified apphcants. Thank you for the opportunity.
