APPROVAL TO PURCHASE POLICE CARS
Item 6.4.
This is to inform the city council that I have received quotes for the purchase of two (2) 1998
police vehicles. The low quote was from Elk River Ford in the amount of $20,667.00 (twenty
thousand, six hundred and sixty-seven dollars) per vehicle.
Comparing the Elk River Ford quote to the Hennepin County Purchasing bids shows that the Elk
River Ford quote is approximately $200.00 (two hundred dollars) higher. As in the past, I
recommend that we purchase two (2) 1998 Ford Crown Victoria police vehicles from Elk River
Ford.

Dear Tom,
Thank you for the opportunity to bid for the City's business.
Elk River Ford is pleased to bid a new 1998 Ford Crown Victoria
police interceptor sedan.
Our car meets or exceeds your specification with the following
exceptions:
]. Front and rear bumper guards are not available.
2. A roof drip rail is not available.
3. A locking differential is not available with ABS.
We are bidding in its place an electronic "trac-
tion assist" system which uses the ABS to improve
traction in slippery conditions.
Our bid price for this vehicle is $20,667.00. Minnesota state
sales or use taxes are extra if applicable.
We also bid a 3 year/]00,O00 mile ~ord Motor Co. drivetrain
warranty with a $|00.00 deductible for $]650.00, or if you
prefer, a 3 year/lO0,O00 mile Ford 'Base Care" warranty for
$2735.00. Many warranty programs with varying deductibles are
available. Our bid on the warranty program is in addition to
our bid on the car itself.
Detailed information on costs for special items included in this
bid as well as other specialized equipment options are available
upon request.
