SUBJECT: Update on Board and Commission
Terms
Attached to this memo is a list of all board and commission terms
that are up for reappointment on December 31. Some of the terms
will not require following the interview process.
· The terms of EDA and HRA members are appointed by the Mayor.
· The Ice Arena Commission members whose terms are about to
expire are Youth Hockey and school representatives. These
positions are appointed by the Council, however,
recommendations should come from the Youth Hockey board and
the School Board.
· The Utilities Commission Member whose term is about to expire
is a council representative.
These appointments can be made at the January 5 Council meeting.
As indicated by the chart, there are terms on the Park and
Recreation Commission, Planning Commission and Library Board
that will need to be filled. A notice regarding these positions has
been placed in THE CURRENT and another will be placed in the Star
News. The city will be accepting applications until December 12.
Interviews will be held on either December 22 or January 5.
Staff has contacted all of the current commission and board
members regarding whether or not they are interested in
reappointment. The only member that staff has not been able to
reach is Rolfe Anderson of the Park and Recreation Commission.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Reappoint those members who have served only one year.
(Reappointment can take place on January 5). Those members
are:
· John Kuester - Park and Recreation Commission
· Ron Westrum- Park and Recreation Commission
· Tom Mesich- Planning Commission
Advertise for the following positions:
· one vacancy on the Park and Recreation Commission
· two vacancies on the Planning Commission
· one vacancy on the Library Board
