U date on Homeowner Water Service Insurance Program
BACKGROUND:
Last month the Commission reviewed information and discussed a proposed homeowner water
service insurance program. The proposed program was anon-mandatory program that would
cover the costs of repair for a damaged or failing homeowner's water service. The Commission
directed the Utilities' legal counsel to further research the options of assessment prior to staff
investing additional time in the proposed insurance program.
DISCUSSION:
Utilities' legal counsel has reviewed and is comfortable with the option of assessing costs related
to the repair of a water service that has been damaged or has failed. Further explanation will be
provided by the Utilities' legal counsel at the time of the Commission meeting.
ACTION REQUESTED:
Staff recommends not implementing a homeowner water service insurance program.
