Boys and Girls Clubs of America
Councilmember Thompson has been attending meetings regarding the
formation of a Boys and Girls Club in Elk River. As the Council was advised
at its November 17, 1997, meeting, the Lion's Club is attempting to work
with the Boys and Girls Club organization for the construction of a facility in
Lion's Park to serve the needs of both organizations. The Lion's Club and the
Boys and Girls Club would be responsible for the construction costs and then
the Boys and Girls Club would be responsible for the operating expenses. The
city's participation in this project would relate to donating or leasing land for
the facility in Lion's Park. One of the first steps in accomplishing these goals
is to have the Boys and Girls Club get established in Elk River.
Councilmember Thompson should be able to update everyone on progress
that has been made in the last month or so.
