SR 09-08-2003MEI IORANDUM Item# 6 TO: Mayor and City Council FROM: Pat Klaers, City Administrator DATE: September 8, 2003 SUBJECT: Pat Summerall Productions Attached for your information is a fax which I received from Jean Lewis from Pat Summerall Productions regarding an opportunity to be selected for a city management award. This "opportunity" comes with a price tag. In my conversation with Ms. Lewis I understand that the cost for the city is about 1/4 of the total cost of the production. This may be a very good opportunity to advertise the city to businesses and industries. Ms. Lewis indicated that she was going to speak to the Mayor and accordingly, Mayor Kfl_inzing may have an update on this issue for the City Council. In my conversation with Ms. Lewis, it was indicated that the city is one of the municipalities under consideration in Minnesota and that, in effect, we are in competition with a few other communities for being selected for this award. A questionnaire is planned to be sent to me in the near future to be filled out for further evaluation of our community. (This assumes that we are still interested and are willing to pay our share of the production costs.) As I understand this program, it is new and that Minnesota is one of the first states selected for this program and that they (Pat Summerall Productions) intend to go state by state throughout the country with this civic recognition program.
