Conditional Use Permit Request
by Elk River Shopping Center,
Public Hearing Case No. CU 97-30
Request
Elk River Shopping Center is requesting a conditional use permit for an
athletic/health facility in the Elk River Mall.
Background
This item was postponed at last month's City Council meeting to allow the
owners of the shopping center to complete their final negotiations with the
Marcus Theater Group who has recently purchased Elk River Theaters. In a
letter dated January 13, 1998, from Jack Sheedy, the final negotiations with
the new theater group have not been completed as of yet; therefore, the
applicants are requesting postponement until the February 17, 1998, City
Council meeting.
Recommendation
It is recommended the City Council postpone action on the requested
conditional use permit to the February 17, 1998 City Council meeting.

The owners of The Elk River Shopping Center have asked that two items scheduled to
be considered by the Elk River City Council on January 20, 1998 that relate to.
Conditional Use Permits for the theater expansion and "The Gym" be postponed until
February 19, 1998.
The final negotiations with the new theater group have not been completed.
