1~Meeting called to Order:
Elk River Heritage Preservation Commission was called to order at 6:08 p.m. by Chair
Lindberg.
Ms. Haug requested the addition of approval of the agenda and minutes to the agenda.
MOTION TO AMEND THE AGENDA WITH THE CHANGES DISCUSSED BY
COMMISSIONER ROHLF AND SECOND BY COMMISSIONER MORTENSEN.
ALL IN FAVOR. MOTION CARRIED.
Ms. Haug requested the removal (postponement) of the oral history update from the agenda.

AGENDA ITEM BY COMMISSIONER ROHLF AND SECOND BY
COMMISSIONER KONIETZKO. ALL IN FAVOR. MOTION CARRIED.
MOTION TO APPROVE THE MINUTES BY COMMISSIONER KONIETZKO AND
SECOND BY COMMISSIONER MORTENSEN. ALL IN FAVOR MOTION
CARRIED. COMMISSIONER ROHLF ABSTAINED DUE TO HIS ABSENCE FROM
THE MEETING.
21 Toint Meeting
Ms. Haug handed out a tax credit sheet and questioned whether the HPC would like to have
a joint meeting with the EDA (Economic Development Authority) on February 7`s ox March
7`" at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers. A question was posed xegazding the reason fox a
joint meeting. Ms. Haug clarified that it would be for better understanding and support. It
would be beneficial to have a representative come in and talk about the tax credit to both
commissions at once.
Commissioner Rohlf questioned whether the joint meeting would be in lieu of a regular
HPC meeting. Ms. Haug confirmed that it would be in lieu rather than in addition to a
regular meeting. She will coordinate the meeting.
3) Water Tower Update
Ms. Haug stated that she attended the Utilities Commission meeting on Tuesday, December
14s' to ask for their support to nominate the water tower as one of the 10 most endangered
structures. There is a giant opportunity involved (up to $2,500). If the water tower is listed,
the tower would be eligible fox more giant funds.
91exa Mcdowell is working with Richard Rothaus on the nomination to the National
Register and will have that done by the end of the month. She will give us a copy of the
nomination.
4) Other
February 7`h will be a special meeting. Discussion followed regarding whether to have a
meeting in January (20a') ox move to March (17) fox the next meeting.
Commissioner Konietzko commented that he'd like to start the year by reconciling the Oral
Histories and whether the schools axe engaged. He proposed the January meeting. Chair
Lindberg agreed that regarding the oral histories, sooner is better.
Discussion followed regarding time, funds for transcription, interviewers and qualifications.
Mr. Brubaker commented that an oral history is a directed conversation by the interviewer
within certain parameters. He prefers digital recorders now. He added that the State Historic
Preservation Office (SHPO) suggested that he write a grant application fox funds for
transcription.
Bailey Point will be discussed on the City Council agenda on Monday at 6:30 p.m.
