11 Meeting called to Order:
Elk River Heritage Preservation Commission was called to order at 6:02 p.m. by Chair
Lindberg.
2) Consider August 18, 2011 HPC Agenda:
Ms. Haug requested the addition of several item as follows:

3) Consider Mav 19. 2011 HPC Minutes:

FAVOR. MOTION CARRIED.
41 Planning Commission Items
Ms. Haug discussed the two agenda items fox the September Planning Commission meeting.
The items are the Elk River Landfill and Cornerstone Auto. Both items show no known
SHPO sites and the city's archaeological model shows low to moderate potential fox an
archaeological site.
5) 2011 Preservation Conference
Staff informed the Commission that the 2011 Preservation Conference will be held in
Faribault September 22- 23, 2011. Commissioner Mortenson is planning on attending as
well as both staff members. Ms. Haug will be presenting on the previous archaeological digs
the HPC organized.
6) June 6, 2011 HRA meeting uudate
Ms. Haug updated the Commission on the meeting and asked fox Commissioner Mortenson
and Chair Lindberg fox their thoughts of the meeting. Ms. Haug also informed the HPC
that a structural engineer would be inspecting the buildings the following day. She would
give the HPC an update when one is available.
June 14, 2011 Utility Commission meeting update
Ms. Haug updated the Commission on the meeting. The Utility Commission gave the HPC
permission to have flyers posted around the City to create awareness of the Water Tower.
81 Branding_& Marketing update
Ms. Haug informed the HPC that the EDA has im-ited them to attend their September 12,
meeting to receive the final branding and marketing presentation by chandlerthinks.
Commissioner Mortenson and Mx. Brubaker are able to attend. Commissioner Konietzko
and Chair Lindberg are tentative.
Oral History Update
Commissioner Mortensen conducted several interviews to gather histories. She interviewed
Vera Peloquin, Lois Lundemo and Gene Thompson and his wife. Doris Anderson's
interview has been postponed. It was suggested that Commissioner Mortenson interview
Mayor Dietz, Vance Zehxinger, Marilyn VanPatten and Roger Ostby. She has also provided
Pat Dwyer with questions and will be setting up a meeting.
10~ Other
Ms. Haug reminded the HPC of the upcoming Autumn Lights Fundraiser on Friday,
September 16, 2011. Mr. Brubaker informed the Commission that Sheriff Brott will be
azxesting people during the event and that it will be a lot of fun.
Adjournment
The next meeting is scheduled to be held on September 22 at 6:00 p.m. in the Uppertown
Conference Room at City Hall. Staff and Commissioner Mortenson will be attending the
2011 State Historic Preservation Conference and will not be in attendance so it was decided
to cancel the September meeting.
