Safety Camp Funding
The city Safety Committee is proposing to do a two day safety camp in Lions
Park on June 9 and 10 for area youth ages 7-11. The camp will be set up for
a minimum of 50 kids and a maximum of 100. Community Recreation is
handling the pubhcity, brochures, some of the daily activities, and most of
the coordination.
Presentations would be done by the following:
· Police department - animal safety, pedestrian/bike safety, personal
safety/drugs, and water safety
· Elk River Municipal Utihties - electrical safety;
· Fire department - fire safety
Ambulance service - First aid/911
· News station - severe weather
A fee of $15.00 per registrant is proposed and we have estabhshed an
estimated budget of $2,700. We will be asking local organizations and
businesses for support and donations for the camp, but in order to keep this
project moving forward, the Safety Committee requests City Council support,
not to exceed $2,000.

Fun activities during the day will be provided by recreation.
Community Recreation to write letter to VFW, Legion, and Lions Club
inquiring about contributions to Safety Camp.
