SUBJECT: Downtown Task Force Update
The Downtown Task Force held its. first meeting on November 28. Due to a staff error with the public
notice. (a quorum of Housing and Redevelopment Authority members were there), two members had to
leave. This impacted the progress of the meeting.
After introductions, the Task Force reviewed the mission statement and the Highway 10 Plan as it winds
through downtown. The Task Force also began discussion on the problem statement, the question the
Plan is intended to solve. This is important as both an evaluation tool and a communication tool.
Staying to the 4`" Monday of the month, the Task Force will take December off. The next meeting is
scheduled for January 23.
After a suggestion by Stewart Wilson and Nick Zerwas, the Council agreed to add three members to the
Task Force. Ron Touchette, Alan Sakry, and Jim Hudson were suggested as possible members. Ron and
Alan represent local businesses, and Jim would represent downtown residents. With Council
authorization, staff will contact these individuals. This would bring the total number of Task Force
members to 18.
