Adopt the attached resolution designating Joplin Street, from Mississippi Road to 183`d Avenue/Orono
Parkway, as a Municipal State Aid Highway.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
This item is being brought forward to correct an error in the reporting of our Municipal State Aid (MSA)
system dating back to 1994. The State Aid office does not have a formal resolution establishing this
segment as a MSA route. This segment has continuously been included in mileage calculations and
reported as a MSA route but no official resolution adopting it as such exists.
The State Aid office is asking for the City Council to adopt the attached resolution to comply with the
process detailed in the State Statutes. Staff is recommending approval of the attached resolution. If the
resolution is not adopted, the city would receive a negative adjustment to the upcoming State Aid
allocation fox the dollars this segment has been generating incorrectly since 1994.

RESOLUTION I I -
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ELK RIVER
A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING MUNICIPAL STATE AID HIGHWAY
WHEREAS, it appears to the City Council of the City of Elk River that the streets hereinafter
described should be designated Municipal State Aid Streets under the provisions of Minnesota Law.
NOW THEREFORE IT BE RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Elk River that the
streets described as follows, to-wit:
Joplin Street from Mississippi Road to 183`d Ave. NW
be, and hereby are established, located, and designated Municipal State Aid Streets of said city
subject to the approval of the Commissioner of Transportation of the State of Minnesota.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to forward
two certified copies of this resolution to the Commissioner of Transportation for his consideration,
and that upon his approval of the designation of said streets or portions thereof, that. same be
constructed, improved, and maintained as Municipal State Aid Streets of the City of Elk River, to be
numbered and known as Municipal State Aid Streets.
