3.3. SR 02-02-1998**ITEM 3.3.** MEMORANDUM 'ver FROM: DATE: SUBJECT: Mayor and City Council Cliff Skogstad, Building Official January 22, 1998 Out of State Conference Once again, the Colorado Chapter Educational Institute will be hosting a continuing education conference on March 2na through March 6th, 1998. I attended this conference last year and found it to be exceptional in regards to the type of classes they provide for building officials. Provided for you with this memo is a copy of the conference I wish to attend. Some of the classes I will be attending are The Uniform Mechanical Code Update, Legal Aspects of Code Administration, Administration and Management of Building Functions, and Advanced Fire Alarm System Inspection and Testing. These classes have always been very beneficial to me as the Building Official for the City of Elk River. With the constant changing in building and construction technology, it is essential to continue my education. In addition, this type of classroom activity assists me in my continuing education credits for my license for the International Conference of Building Officials and my State of Minnesota license as a building official. Therefore, at this time I am asking the City Council for approval to attend this conference. The cost will be approximately $900. This amount was an approved budget item for this year listed under out of state conferences. If you need any further information, please call me at 441-4903. Recommendation Council motion authorizing Building Official to attend the Colorado Chapter Educational Institute. s:\b&z\cliff~colorado.doc 13065 Orono Parkway · P.O.
