Staff recommends the HPC approve the Letter of Recommendation for the Elk River Water Tower to be
listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
The Minnesota Historical Society (MHS) is requesting that the HPC provide comments for the
nomination of the Elk River Water Tower to the National Register of Historic Places. Staff has asked
Michael Brubaker, Director of the Sherburne History Center and Bob Quist and Joshua Fox from the
Oliver Kelley Farm to provide comments on behalf of the HPC as they meet the qualification
requirements of knowledge of the Federal Standards for History, Historic Architecture and Architectural
History.
These comments are due at the MHS Office by close of business on March 23, 2012. The item will then
be discussed at the State Review Board meeting scheduled for Thursday, March 27, 2012 at 6:45 p.m.
