Appoint EDA Commissioner Nick Zerwas to the Brand Champions Team
BACKGROUND
The branding subcommittee met for a final time in December of 2011 and decided to dissolve and form a
private-sector based Brand Champions Team.
The Brand Champions Team met for the first time on January 31, 2012. The team is composed of
community leaders from the private and public sectors. The intention of the group is to help the brand
grow throughout the community.
DISCUSSION
Because the EDA spearheaded the branding process, it is important for the Brand Champions to have
the support of the EDA. By appointing an EDA commissioner to be a member of the Brand Champions
Team, the EDA will demonstrate their support of the Brand Champions.
Commissioner Zerwas was a member of the Branding Subcommittee and also attended the January 31St
Brand Champions meeting. Commissioner Zerwas has expressed an interest in continuing to be a part of
the Brand Champions. Given his commitment and experience with the brand, staff recommends that
Commissioner Zerwas be appointed to be an EDA representative on the Brand Champions Team.
