ACTION REQUESTED
Authorization to purchase a 2500HD pickup with accessories, 3500HD with lift gate and accessories,
tractor with snow plow, mini skid steer with attachments, over seeder, and sod cutter from funds
designated in the 2012 Equipment Replacement Fund.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
Funds are available in the 2012 Equipment Replacement Fund to purchase a 2500HD pickup with
accessories ($29,000), 3500HD pickup with lift gate and accessories ($33,000), tractor with snow plow
($52,500), mini skid steer with attachments ($23,200), over seeder ($9,100), and a sod cutter ($4,450).
These items were reviewed in detail when the Fleet Committee met with Council in 2011. Staff
recommends the following purchases through the state contract bid, National Joint Powers Alliance
(NJPA), and by multiple quotes obtained. All prices include sales tax.
^ 2500HD with accessories on state contract through Polar Chevrolet for $28,449.54. The
purchase of this truck will replace a 1995 truck, which will be sent to the auction
^ 3500HD with lift gate and accessories on state contract through Nelson Auto Center for
$32,075.34. The purchase of this truck will replace a 1998 truck, which will be sent to the auction
^ Tractor with snow plow on state contract through Scharber and Sons for $34,245.47, includes a
trade in value of $15,000.00
^ Mini skid with attachments using NJPA through RDO Equipment for $24,756.53
^ Over seeder using multiple quotes through Scharber and Sons for $9,113.23
^ Sod cutter using multiple quotes through Cushman Motors for $4,568.91
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Total budgeted cost of the purchases was $151,250. The total cost of the above equipment is $133,209.
