Approve the purchase of a Chevrolet Tahoe, 4x4, in the amount of $30,137.25 and authorize the set-up
and equipping of the purchased vehicle from budgeted funds in the Equipment Replacement Fund.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
The requested purchase is part of the approved 2012 Equipment Replacement Fund. The replacement
plan has previously been discussed with the Council.
The new Chevrolet Tahoe will be assigned to the Fire Department, replacing a 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe.
The 2003 Tahoe will be reassigned to the Building Safety Division and one of the Building Safety
Division vehicles will be reassigned to the Pinewood Golf Course to replace a 1997 Ford Ranger.
The recommended replacement cycle for administrative/command vehicles for the Fire Department is
seven years.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Funds are budgeted in the 2012 Equipment Replacement Fund in the amount of $40,000 for this
replacement. These funds will cover the cost of the vehicle purchase, old vehicle tear down, new vehicle
equipment and setup, graphics, and other expenses associated with the purchase. Due to the age of the
current vehicle, most of the emergency warning equipment will be replaced.
