SUBJECT: Volunteer Recognition Program
Staff is in the process of planning for the volunteer recognition
program to recognize 1997 volunteers. This program is being
planned to be held in conjunction with Minnesota Volunteer week
and the National Volunteer week during April 19-25.
The list of volunteers for 1997 are attached to this memo. Staff is
requesting council to review the list to be certain that nobody has
been excluded.
Staff is also wondering if council wants to reconsider its position
about inviting members of the EDA and Utilities Commission. These
two bodies were originally omitted because they receive pay of $150
per month for meeting attendance. Some may argue that these are
still volunteer positions. If the council does not wish to change its
position on this issue, the names of EDA and Utilities Commission
members can be deleted from the list.
The recognition program is scheduled to be held on either April 21
or April 23. I would like the council to choose a date at this time so
that reservations can be made.
I will be happy to answer any questions the council may have during
the meeting on March 2.
ACTION REQUESTED
1. Decide whether EDA and Utilities Commission members
should be included on the guest list
2. Motion to call a special meeting for the date of the Volunteer
Recognition Program.
