Planning Commission Resignation and
Appointment
Attached is a letter from Jon Anderson indicating his intention to resign from
the Planning Commission. Jon is resigning from the Planning Commission
due to other commitments.
The Council recently interviewed two applicants to fill one vacancy on the
Planning Commission. Of the two candidates, Joseph Schuster was
interviewed but not appointed. I have contacted Mr. Schuster to see if he is
still interested in serving on the Planning Commission. He indicated that he
is interested and would accept an appointment to the commission. Staff
recommends that Mr. Schuster be appointed to complete Jon Anderson's term
on the Planning Commission which expires on 12/31/98.
ACTION REQUESTED
Motion to accept Jon Anderson's resignation from the Planning
Commission.
Motion to appoint Joseph Schuster to the Planning Commission to
complete Jon Anderson's term which expires on 12131198.

Dear Steve,
It is with great regret that I announce my resignation from the Plarming Commission. My leaving is not a
reflection on the commission, the city or staff, but rather the result of an intense work schedule. With a
very demanding and rapidly growing business, my responsibilities have also grown to the point where I
am not able to provide the kind dedication that the Planning Commission and the citizens of Elk River
deserve.
I have enjoyed the last 2 plus years as a member of the commission and I have learned a great deal about
Elk River and the PlanniNg process. Much of what I learned is a direct reflection on you. You have done a
superb job growing the city and I wish you the very best.
Once again Steve, I am sad to leave the Planning Commission however I will always be involved in the
growth of our city.
