Action Requested
Approval of a special event permit to Salk Middle School fora 5K walk/run scheduled for May 19, 2012,
with the following conditions:
1. Applicant shall be responsible for garbage clean-up.
2. No paint allowed anywhere on trails. Chalk or cones may be used.
3. Applicant must contact Police Captain Ron Nierenhausen (763.635.1202) at least three weeks
prior to event to arrange for police reserves.
Background/Discussion
Salk Middle School is requesting to host a 5K walk/run on May 19, 2012. Below is a synopsis of the
request:
^ The 5K run/walk will begin and end at Salk Middle School.
^ The event begins at 8 a.m. and goes until noon.
^ The event is open to all Salk Middle School students and their families and friends. Salk is
expecting a minimum of 500 participants, volunteers, and spectators.
^ Salk has requested Police Department traffic control at the intersections of Highland and
Proctor (77) and at the stoplight at Proctor and County Road 1.
The city is in receipt of a certificate of insurance in excess of $1 million as required by city ordinance.
