Consider Meeting Dates for Joint
Meeting with School District
The District 728 School Board has requested a joint meeting with all of the
municipal city councils within their boundaries. To this end, the School
Board needs to know ffthe City Council is willing and able to participate in a
large joint meeting on Tuesday, April 21, 1998, at 7 p.m., at a location to be
determined.
In my conversation with Dr. Flannery, I indicated support for this larger
joint meeting, but also indicated that I thought the Elk River City Council
would want an individual meeting with the School Board. In this regard, Dr.
Flannery advised me that this was his original request to the board on March
10 and that April 6 was identified as an acceptable date. Accordingly, if the
City Council would hke to meet with the School Board on April 6, a motion to
this effect would be appropriate and I will then officially relay this City
Council request on to Dr. Flannery and the School Board.
Topics for an individual meeting with the School Board that may not be
relevant to a larger joint meeting include the future need for an elementary
school in the east Elk River area, the improvement of School Street to a four
lane status from the senior high to Proctor Avenue, an overview of the
city/school recreation issues, plus other issues of mutual interest.
