LED Holiday Light Contest U date
BACKGROUND:
Based on the March 20, 2012 Commission Meeting discussion staff was directed to reseazch the
holiday lighting contest that Princeton Public Utilities sponsors.
DISCUSSION:
Princeton Utilities has run a small, but successful program in past years. Participation has been
limited to the same 6 customers for 2010 and 2011. The basics of the program are as follows:
Mazketing
1) A reminder of the contest is printed on bill statements.
2) An advertisement is run in the local paper detailing the requirements, dates, and prizes.
3) Applications are available at the general office for customers to pick up.

Requirements
^ Application Processing 1 hours
Administration 4 hours
• Judging (Volunteers) 2 hours
Note (Princeton has used senior citizens groups, Civic Betterment,
Auxiliary's, etc. to judge. Recently staff has been judging.
^ Princeton requires customer of utility
• If applicant is not a customer they are not eligible
Recommend LED requirement (Princeton has added recently)
^ Recommend timers to limit energy consumption (ERMU staff
recommendation)
