1. Call Meeting_To Order
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the meeting of the Elk River Parks and Recreation
Commission was called to order at 6:30 p.m by Chair Anderson.
2. Consider February 8, 2012 Parks & Recreation Commission Agenda
MOVED BY COMMISSIONER AHLNESS AND SECONDED BY
COMMISSIONER PETERSON TO APPROVE THE FEBRUARY 8, 20]2 PARKS
& RECREATION COMMISSION AGENDA. MOTION CARRIED G-0.
3. Consider Minutes of December 14, 2011 Parks & Recreation Commission Meetine
MOVED BY COMMISSIONER NYSTROM AND SECONDED BY
COMMISSIONER KARLSEN TO APPROVE THE DECEMBER 14, 2011 PARKS
AND RECREATION COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES. MOTION
CARRIED 6-0.
4. Open Forum -None
5. Introduction of Cal Fortner. City Administrator
Chair Dave Anderson welcomed Cal Fortner to the meeting. City Administrator, Cal
Fortner then introduced himself to the Commission.
6. Awards and Recognitions
Recreation Manager, Steve Benoit presented Bruce Dalchow as the volunteer of the month.

Parks and Recreation Director Repon
Parks and Recreation Director, Michael Hecker presented the Director's report to the
Conuivssion. Hecker shared information on BailyPoint, Hockey DayMuuiesota, New
Scoreboard at YAC and the Public Works Facility.
8. Division Manager's Reports
Recreation Manager, Steve Benoit shared the Elk River Senior Center and Ice Arena reports.
Mr. Benoit stated that the Lions Park ice rink has been closed due to the unseasonably warm
weather.
Mr. Benoit also shared the marketing efforts for January 2012.
9. Action Items
9.1 Major Park Use -Spectrum High School use of Lions Park
Recreation Manager, Steve Benoit presented a request from Spectrum High School for the
use of Lions Park and Lions Park Center to hold a Walk for Autism event.
Spectrum High School representative, Karin Ness explained to the Conunission the purpose
of their event and was there to answer questions.
COMMISSIONER NYSTROM AND SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER
AHLNESS TO ACCEPT STAFF RECOMMENDATION TO APPOVE THE USE
OF LIONS PARK AND LIONS PARK CENTER ON SATURDAY, APRIL 14, 2012
FOR THE WALK FOR AUTISM, WAIVING THE FACITLITY RENTAL FEES,
AND SPECTRUM HIGH SCHOOL COVERING THE COST OF THE
BUILDING SUPERVISOR.
10. Discussion Items
10.1 Branding Presentation
Marketing Coordinator, Rae Ann Gardner presented the Branding Plan sharing how the city
is currently using the plan within the city. Gardner also shared how the community has
stared to use the branding plan.
11. Park/Program Hiehliehts
Recreation Manager, Steve Benoit presented highlights from the Powered by Fire and Ice
event that was held on January 28, 2012.
