ACTION REQUESTED
The City Council is asked to approve the following three low quotes for the installation of a basketball
court at Trott Brook Farms Park:
1. Court Surfaces and Repair in the amount of $41,491 to construct a basketball court;
2. Hipsag Electric in the amount of $16,650 to install six. light fixtures; and
3. Most Dependable Fountain in the amount of $3,200 for a drinking fountain.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
At the April 16, 2012, meeting, the City Council approved a resolution acknowledging the $61,341
monetary donation from the Trout Brook Farms Homeowners Association to install a full size basketball
court at Trott Brook Farms Park. Staff received multiple quotes, including the contractor doing all work
for a full size 60' x 94' court, which is complete excavation, proper sub base and drainage, asphalt, green
surfacing with game lines, black fencing, and installing the basketball standards. Below are the quotes:
Court Surfaces and Repair Inc. $41,491.00
Surface Pro $47,447.00
Upper Midwest Athletic Construction $46,303.00
Staff obtained two quotes for lighting the basketball court from two local Elk River electrical contractors:
Hipsag Electric $16,650.00 includes six light fixtures
Rike-Lee Electric $16,525.00 includes four light fixtures
Rike-Lee Electric submitted the low quote; however, Hipsag Electric's quote included two additional
light fixtures and staff felt this was a better option for the minimal price difference.
We also obtained pricing from Most Dependable Fountains for two different styles of ADA complaint
fountains and decided on the lower price of $3,200 fox a two level water fountain.
