O. Box 490 Elk River, MN 55330-0490 RE: TH 169 Pedestrian Bridge Dear Council Members: As I have previously reported to the City Council, the ISTEA funding for the TH 169 Pedestrian Bridge has been moved from FY00 to FY99 (starts July 1, 1998). Also, Congressman Oberstar has indicted he may be successful in getting funding for the pedestrian bridge through a demonstration project added to the ISTEA bill in Congress. In either case, there is a significant amount of work to be done prior to having a project ready to construct. This includes the federal documentation, easement acquisition on the eastside of the highway; design and Mn/DOT review. Given the amount of work to be accomplished we would recommend that the City Council authorize work to begin on this project now. To that end, we have prepared the attached resolution for the City Council's consideration which authorizes us to begin work. If you have any questions, I will be in attendance at your April 13 City Council meeting. Sincerely, Howard R. Green Company TJM/et Attachment O:\proj\803450j\450-O304.apr 1326 Energy Park Drive · St. Paul, MN 55108 · 612/644-4389 fax 612/644-9446 toll free 800/888-2923 RESOLUTION 98 - A RESOLUTION FOR THE CITY OF ELK RIVER A RESOLUTION ORDERING THE PREPARATION OF PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS AND THE FEDERAL DOCUMENTATION PROCESS IN THE MATTER OF THE TH 169 PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE IMPROVEMENT OF 1999 WHEREAS, WHEREAS, the City was successful in obtaining an ISTEA Grant for the TH 169 pedestrian bridge for fiscal year 2000; and the City has been notified that Mn/DOT has moved up the TH 169 pedestrian bridge in their program from fiscal year 2000 to fiscal year 1999 which starts July 1, 1998.
