This is to remind you of our upcoming meeting on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. at the Elk River
City Hall in the Uppertown Conference Room. Please see the attached agenda and minutes.
STAFF UPDATES
I. ELK RIVER WATER TOWER UPDATE
The State Review Board unanimously approved the National Register Nomination for the Elk River
Water Tower. Thank you to Joshua Fox and Michael Brubaker for writing letters of recommendation.
The nomination has now been sent to the National Park Service for their approval.
2. PLANNING COMMISSION ITEMS
No items on the Planning Commission agenda for discussion.
3. DOWTOWN TASK FORCE UPDATE
Chair Lindberg will be able to give an update from the meeting that was on March 26, 2012. The next
meeting is scheduled for April 23, 2012.
4. ORAL HISTORY UPDATE
Please bring with you any names that should be added to the list and names of people who have
already been interviewed.
5. BAILEY POINT
Staff will give an update on the meeting with the Professor from St. Cloud State University about doing
research for the interpretive signs.
6. 2012 GOAL DISCUSSION
The Commission discussed possible ways to raise money for the water tower and a possible event
geared towards creating awareness in regards to the history of Elk River. Staff attended a training
geared towards grant seeking and developing plans for seeking funds. Staff will be presenting this
information and discuss options for the HPC to use the information.
