This is to remind you of our upcoming meeting on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at 8:30 a.m. in the Uppextown
Conference Room at the Elk River City Hall. The agenda and April minutes axe attached.
STAFF UPDATES
PROJECT CONSERVE PHASE III
The third meetings were held on April 14, 17, and 19, 2012 and covered water and recycling. Angela Hauge, Elk
River Municipal Utilities and Bill Bxonder, Sherburne County Soil & Water Conservation District discussed water
conservation. Staff spoke about how energy is saved through recycling and the City's organics program.
Newsletters have been going out to past and present participants. Staffos looking for some topics far the
summer for the `Ask the Experts"section ofthe newsletter. Staffis also /oolong for more summer energy
ups. Please consoderprovoding onformatoon for the newsletters.
SWOT ANALYSIS
During the meeting, the website will be further discussed as well as the standard ECC presentation and guidelines
for guest speakers. Ifyou have ideas forguest speakers, p/ease bring them to the meeting:
BUSINESS RECYCLING EVENT
The City will be hosting another Business Recycling Event on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 from 12:00 - 1:30 p.m. at
the Elk River Library. Presentations will be given by CAER Food shelf and Trident Polymers. CAER Food Shelf
recently retrofitted their garbage and recycling programs and is seeing great results. Trident Polymers is a new
business in Elk River. They purchase and sell plastics around the world and axe interested in working with area
businesses to help reduce plastic waste and increase plastic recycling. Please attend and showyoursupport for
these partnered events with the Economic Deve%pment staff.
