SUBJECT: Meeting Reminder -May 17, 2012
This is to remind you of our upcoming meeting on Thursday, May 17, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. at the Elk River
City Hall in the Uppertown Conference Room. Please see the attached agenda and minutes.
STAFF UPDATES
I. ELK RIVER WATER TOWER UPDATE
The National Park Service has the application and is accepted comments through May 14, 2012 and will
the make its decision. The ERMU is planning on sealing the lid of the water tower if it is placed on the
National Register of Historic Places as there are some safety concerns with its current condition. Staff
updated the Utility Commission on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 of the timeline for the determination and
discussed ways the HPC is pursuing for funding.
2. PLANNING COMMISSION ITEMS
No items on the Planning Commission agenda for discussion.
3. DOWTOWN TASK FORCE UPDATE
Chair Lindberg will be able to give an update from the meeting that was on April 23, 2012. The next
meeting is scheduled for May 30, 2012.
4. BAILEY POINT & HOULTON PROPERTY UPDATE
Staff will give updates during the meeting.
5. SHERBURNE COUNTY FAIR BOOTH
There are no booths available inside the buildings for the Sherburne County Fair.
6. "CURRENT" ARTICLES AND ELK RIVER STAR NEWS ARTICLES
"Current" articles are due to the City by May 23, 2012. It was discussed at last month's meeting that
would focus on neighborhoods interested in being designated "Historic". Also, the Elk River Star
News is willing to have an on-going series about the changes the Elk River Water Tower has seen
since its construction in 1920.
