SWCASR 05-03-2012City Equipment Upgrades and Repair Overview Here is a list of some of the work in the commission cities. 1) Added Microphone lines to council dais in Maple Lake. 2) Added new overflow meeting room equipment in Elk River. 3) Background music has been added to the bulletin boazd playback in Rockford, Watertown and Big Lake. 4) We added a new council presentation monitor in Maple Lake. 5) In Rockford we repaired their TriCaster and we had to replace their bulletin board Scala system. 6) Repairs and upgrades were done to playback equipment in Delano and Elk River. 7) New wireless microphone in Delano. 8) Setup Channel 12 feed for TDS in Monticello Control Room. 9) Editing equipment repaired and ram upgraded in Watertown 10) Setup equipment and trained staff so Watertown could start cablecasting their council meetings live. 11) Service calls for Channel 12 signal problem in Buffalo, Watertown, Elk River and Delano. 12) Trailer repairs include work on our intercom and audio system plus camera repairs. 13) Factory repair of a DVCAM deck for Producer. 14) New Nexus Hazd Drive in Big Lake. 15) Service call to playback system in Cokato. 16) Service call in Buffalo to repair audio feed from podium. 17) Taught Community ED video production classes in Big Lake. City Equipment Requests Rockford Rockford has a very small council room and has to hold meetings off site on those occasions when their room is not big enough to hold the people that want to attend their meetings They are requesting a projector and portable screen so that they can adapt to the changing meeting situations. This is exactly the same as the system you approved for Watertown at the 4`n quarter 20l 1 meeting. We currently do not have any lighting for our lazge trailer shoots and want to add LED lighting that can be programmed and mixed using the DMX control protocol The new breed of LED lighting can be changed to any color without using traditional bulbs, it runs very cool and uses for little power. The system we want also uses a portable light grid that the lights can be mounted on (Kind of like a tripod for lights). We recently used this lighting equipment while taping the Delano cabazet and we would not have been able to have the level of production that we had without them. The system includes the following lights: 8-Flat Paz TRI 7 LED 7 X 3 Watt Paz Lights 2-Slim Paz TRI LED 18 X 3 Watt Paz Lights 1-Light Grid system with T Baz light stands 10-0 Clamp 1.5 Lighting Clamps 2- Hemisphere 5 X 1 Watt Globe Lights 1-Chauvet Obey 70 DMX 512 Controller All power cables and DMX connectors Lighting Package Equipment Total-$3372.98 4 Sherburne Wright Cable Commission 2nd Quarter Report May 3rd, 2012 Photos from the Volunteer Recognition Event held at the Monticello Community Center Apri121°, 2012 We had a very good turnout for our 1~` Volunteer Recognition event. The Cable Commission has benefited from receiving well over 5000 hours of volunteer time since we started using our mobile production trailer and our Movies in the Pazk program. It was time to pay back our volunteers so we gave them a recognition party and movie night. Volunteer Retention is tough for many organizations and we really wanted to show our volunteers that we appreciate their time and effort. We also honored those volunteers who participated on more than 5 production shoots and/or Movie in the Pazk setups totaling over 50 hours of time by inducting them into our SWTV Hall of Fame. Each of them received an SWTV t-shirt and will be recognized for their contribution on our website. Tina Allazd from Elk River representing the commission thanked the attendees for all their hazd work and joined us for pizza and cake. Speaking of cake, the photo shows the beautiful cake decorations created by Brenda Davis who does this professionally at Coburn's in Delano. The cake was as delicious as it was beautiful. After the awazd ceremonies we held a drawing for prizes graciously donated by our vendors and community businesses. We then screened the movie "Super 8" on our indoor portable movie screen. Around 11:30pm we sent our volunteer's home very happy! This will help to elevate our profile in the community and also answers the number one question people ask when they see our trailer at events. We aze getting the Movie in the Pazks trailer ready for its logo application next. We also fmally finished the portable event banners. Future Equipment Changes I recently attended the Association of Broadcasters National Show in Las Vegas. My primary goal in going to this show was to see what changes aze ahead in equipment design. I attended several seminars on changes in equipment technology and met with many manufacturers. Over 90% of the new equipment that was presented at the show is High Definition based. Most manufacturers are phasing out their standazd definition equipment. I was told that by 2015 it will be very hazd to purchase new standazd definition equipment. I would like to request your authorization to work on a budget to project the cost of transitioning our city equipment from standazd definition to high defmition over a 5 yeaz period. Phil Kem has provided me with a template and I have also discussed this with Mert Auger and I would work on it with their guidance. I would present it at a future meeting for further discussion. I recommend that we start planning now for the inevitable transition to high defmition programming. Many other communities aze making similaz plans. While 2015 may seem faz off now there is much that would need to be done in our cities to adapt to these changes.
