City Council is asked to review the Financial Management Plan.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
Annually, as part of our long-term financial planning, we review the 20-year financial model for the city's
General Fund. This is an interactive model that I have developed over the past few years, which now has
been updated with our final 2011 numbers. I will show the model on the overhead and walk through
several aspects and spreadsheets/charts.
Here are a few of the areas we will cover:
• 2011 numbers
• Tax abatement levies
• Tax increment financing
• Debt Service levies
• Consumer Price Index (CPI) & Key Metrics
• Revenue and expenditure trends
Also, if the Council is interested, at any time throughout the budget and Capital Improvement Plan
process we can try specific scenarios.
