SUBJECT: Older Americans' Month
Attached is a proclamation recognizing May and Older Americans'
Month and May 18-25 as "Elk River Lovers Our Seniors Week." The
City has been requested to adopt the attached proclamation
recognizing our "seniors."

PROCLAMATION
OLDER AMERICANS' MONTH - May
ELK RIVER LOVES OUR SENIORS WEEK - May 18-25, 1998
WHEREAS,
older Americans are significant members of our society,
investing their wisdom and experience to help enrich and
better the hves of younger generations; and,
WHEREAS,
the Elk River Senior Center has acted as a catalyst for
mobilizing the creativity, energy, vitality, and commitment of
the older residents of Elk River; and,
WHEREAS,
through the wide array of services, programs, and activities,
the Senior Center empowers older citizens of the city of Elk
River to contribute to their own health and well-being of their
fellow citizens of all ages; and,
WHEREAS,
the city of Elk River a_ffirms the dignity, self-worth, and
independence of older persons by tapping their experiences,
skills, and knowledge; and enabling their continued
contributions to the community.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, MAYOR HENRY A. DUITSMAN, do hereby
proclaim
May - Older American' Month
May 18-25, 1998, - "Elk River Loves Our Seniors Week"
and call upon all citizens to recognize the special contributions of our older
citizens.
