Cleaning and Maintenance Services
The departments heads reviewed our cleaning and building maintenance
issues at a staff meeting on Tuesday, April 28, 1998. I have not reached any
conclusion on how to proceed and I'm still wrestling with various options. We
do need to move forward in some fashion so that we can honor Laurie
Heinecke's generous committment to continue working for us until July. As
you know, she could have left the City on a much shorter notice, so we must
do our best to have a replacement in place by the end of June.
We are looking at how the school handles its cleaning and building
maintenance issues and are also considering information from cleaning
services. As our municipal facilities age, more maintenance is required and
at this point, our approach has been to utilize expertise from our Building
Inspections Department, Street Maintenance Department, and a variety of
maintenance contracts with outside firms.
There is no recommendation on how to proceed included in this memo, but
once again, staff needs to discuss things with the City Council in order to
move forward with an ultimate solution.
