Council is asked to accept the giant from CenterPoint Energy in the amount of $2,500.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
Each year, CenterPoint Energy sponsors a Community Partnership Grant program to help cities purchase
emergency response equipment. In the past, CentexPoint Energy has contributed funds to the Fixe
Department to purchase new self-contained breathing apparatus and multi-gas atmospheric monitors.
This year, the Fire Department has received a grant to be used towards the purchase of confined space
rescue equipment.
A representative from CentexPoint Energy will be at the June 4, 2012, City Council meeting to present a
check in the amount of $2,500.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The grant from CentexPoint Energy requires a 50% match. $2,500 in matching funds will come from
existing operating budgets ($1,250 from the Fire Department and $1,250 from the city's Insurance
Reserve Fund).
