Peterson and Companies out of Chisago City began mobilization, erosion control and removals Wednesday morning. Due to rainy weather, no work was completed on Thursday, May 24, however construction resumed early this morning. The front foundation walls of the demolished buildings will be removed today. Peterson and Companies are working on the removals of the concrete behind the buildings on :Jackson. .All back doors to the businesses on f ackson will ramped in with gravel by the end of today for access. If access is a challenge on the gravel surface, please let us know. There have been concerns expressed over the dumpsters located in the parking lot along US HWY 10. Please note this is a temporary location until construction of the trash enclosure is complete. Once the project complete, businesses will be able to locate their dumpster in the enclosure, which will not only improve the jriew of the downtown from US HWY 10, but open up additional parking. • Saturday, May 26-Monday, May 28 There will be no construction over Memorial Day weekend. Tuesday, May 29 Peterson and Companies will begin the underground utility and storm sewer work on "luesday. Electrical work will also begin to prepare for the removal of the utility pole. "This work will not affect power downtown. Thursday, May 31, 8:OOpm -Temporary Power Outage There will be a temporary power outage for the businesses located on the west side of Jackson on Thursday, May 31. This outage is anticipated to last roughly two hours and will begin at 8:OOpm. Please note, this outage will affect businesses from Kemper Drug, down to the Houlton building (Edward Jones/Avalon Salon). The outage WILL NUT affect properties in the surrounding area, only those located on the west side of Jackson. Please ensure you are communicating this outage with your patrons, tenants and property owners and plan accordingly. Looking ahead We appreciate your cooperation and patience with this project and are working to ensure we are doing everything we can to accommodate the downtown businesses. Click here Elk River Meats wall complete, utility pole removed Friday, June 1 The planned temporary power outage went as planned, and the utility lines were buried the evening of Thursday, May 31. We appreciate the cooperation of the downtown businesses and understand the outage was an inconvenience to some- looking big picture, that temporary inconvenience is well worth the increased traffic a visibility your business will receive upon completion of the lot and arrival of the long anticipated Farmer's Market will bring. Per their request, Century Link has been working on upgrading their phone lines in the project area; phone service is not scheduled to be disrupted as part of our construction. Century Link is upgrading their cables below ground during our construction, however they will not be making any service connection changes for the next month or so. Staff has instructed Century Link to work with their customers to notify them of any planned outage as part of their system • upgrades when they plan to switch customers over. We do not have any specifics for any planned service interruptions, please contact your provider if you have additional questions on how their work may affect your serv=ice. Business Access We are doing everything we can to ensure access to your business through the back door, however there may be times when there is limited access, or access is unavailable. With any construction project, there may be situations in which we have limited to no notice of this occurring, please know that if this does occur, we are doing our best to ensure we are communicating and are working to restore the access as soon as feasible. Underground utility work is nearly complete so we are hopeful the interruptions will be less frequent and less intrusive. Week of June 4-8 Northland Stucco has completed the EFIS work on the wall of Elk River Meats. Peterson and Companies have nearly finished the installation of the storm sewer and water service lines. Peterson and Companies is expecting the parking lot for aggregate base starting today. Construction of concrete curb and. gutter is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, June 6. If all goes as planned, paver construction may begin as early as Friday, June 8. Crews will also begin work on the trash enclosure structure in the coining week. The trash enclosure will be built with colors that complement the color of the new wall on the Elk River Meats building. All businesses on Jackson and Elk.. River .Meats will be able to put their dumpsters • and recycling bins in the enclosure upon parking lot completion. If you do not currently recy=cle, please contact your trash hauler to ftnd out how you can begin recycling. Not only do you decrease your waste, but you will save money (trash is taxed, recycling is not). You will be notified as to when the enclosure can be utilized. • • Communication "There has been some confusion among business and property owners regarding the project, and information they have been obtaining from workers on the site. If you have questions about the Main Street Parking Plaza project, and are not contacting city staff, please ensure you are communicating with Peterson and Companies, and not the other companies which may be on site from time to time. These companies are not familiar with the project and project schedule for the lot. We appreciate your cooperation and patience with this project and are working to ensure we are doing everything we can to accommodate the downtown businesses.
