Mayor Dietz is asked to officially swear in Officer Joseph Firkus. Prior to the oath, Chief Rolfe will
introduce Officer Firkus to the Council and community
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
At the June 4, 2012, meeting, Council authorized the hiring of Joseph Firkus as police officer. The Mayor
is asked to officially swear in Officer Firkus.

OATH OF OFFICE
I, Joseph Firkus, do solemnly swear that I support the Constitution of the United States, the
Constitution of the State of Minnesota, the laws and statutes of the State of Minnesota, and
the ordinances of the City of Elk River, and that I will faithfully execute and discharge the
dunes of a Police Officer for the City of Elk River, Minnesota, according to law and to the
best of my ability and understanding.
