Action Requested
Council motion to appro~-e a special e~rent permit to the Sherburne CounttT agricultural Society for the
Sherburne County Fair and parade with the following conditions:
applicant shall provide garbage cleanup immediately following the parade.
2. Signs shall be installed at the tollo«-ing locations no later than Ju1~T 13, ?012
^ Main Street and Morton ~~enue (alerting westbound traffic)
^ R'est of Orono Road at Main Street and Joplin Street (tor eastbound traffic)
^ On Joplin Street at Orono Park-~~%ay (alerting southbound traffic)
^ Proctor and Main Street (alerting southbound traffic)
The signs shall state:

Parade

during parade staging.

763.63.1110 to arrange for inspection.

with a copy of the Emergency Operations Plan to include, but not limited to, appropriate
annezes for se~Tere weather.

Background/Discussion
The Sherburne County Fair is scheduled for July 19-22, ?012. The p~uade is scheduled for Frida~r, Juhr 20.

The parade route will begin on Main Street at Proctor ~~-enue and continue to the fairgrounds tiTia Orono
Parkway.
The ~1hN Department of Health inspects the food ~-endors and tests the water supply on an annual basis.
Multiple holding tanks for solid waste are pumped as needed. Fort--t<vo portable toilets are located on
the fairgrounds. ~ security plan is submitted to the Sherburne County Sheriff's Department.
Financial Impact
Community Ser~-ice Officers will install and remo~Te no parking signage along the parade route. The
Police Department usually supplies approximately 20 staff members made up of reserves and sworn
officers to assist with blocking intersections and directing traffic.
