02-027 RES RESOLUTION 02- 27 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ELK RIVER A RESOLUTION ADOPTING A PRECINCT PLAN FOR THE CITY OF ELK RIVER WHEREAS, precincts are the basic geographical units for organizing and administering elections; and WHEREAS, precinct boundaries are partially designed by the city and partially the result of various requirements in state statutes; and WHEREAS, as a result of the increase in population as determined by the 2000 census, the City of Elk River has redistricted its four wards as indicated by Ordinance 02-03; and WHEREAS, as a result of redistricting by the State of Minnesota, the City has been split by Senate Districts 16 and 48 and by Legislative Districts 16B and 48A; and WHEREAS, due to the increase in population in the City and because of the City being split by State and Legislative Districts, it is necessary to develop a precinct plan for the City of Elk River. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Elk River does hereby adopt the proposed 8 precincts; Precincts IA, lB, 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B, 4A, and 4B as described on Attachment A. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this resolution shall become effective on September 10, 2002, the date of the state pr/mary election according to M.S. 204B.14, subd. 3c. Peine, City Clerk ATTACHMENT A CITY OF ELK RIVER PRECINCT PLAN (April 8, 2002) PRECINCT lA: That part of Ward 1 lying generally south of the following described line: Beginning at the intersection of U.S. Highway 10 and Zebulon Street easterly along the centerlme of U.S. Highway to the east shore of Lake Orono, thence south and east along the easterly shore of lake Orono and Elk River, following the east shore until it terminates at the Mississippi River. PRECINCT lB: That part of Ward 1 lying generally north of the following described line: Begmmng at the intersection of U.S. Highway 10 and Zebulon Street (westerly corporate boundary) easterly along the centerline of U.S. Highway to the east shore of Lake Orono, thence south and east along the easterly shore of lake Orono and Elk River, following the east shore until it terminates at the Mississippi River. PRECINCT 2A: That part of Ward 2 lying generally north and west of the following described line: Beginning at the intersection of U.S. Highway 169 and 229th Avenue (northerly corporate boundary), southerly along the centerline of U.S. Highway 169 to 205th Avenue (County Road 33) thence west and north along the centerline of County Road 33 to County Road 1 (Elk Lake Road) thence southerly to the intersection of CoUnty Roads 1 and 32 (Meadowvale Road; said point of termination). PRECINCT 2B: That part of Ward 2 lying generally south and east of the following described [me: Beginning at the intersection of U.S. Highway 169 and 229~h Avenue (northerly corporate boundary), southerly along the centerline of U.S. Highway 169 to 205th Avenue (County Road 33) thence west and north along the centerlme of County Road 33 to County Road 1 (Elk Lake Road) thence southerly to the intersection of County Roads 1 and 32 (Meadowvale Road; said point of termination). PRECINCT 3A: That part of Ward 3 lying westerly of the following described line: Beginning at the intersection of Proctor Road (County Road 77) with 195~h Lane, thence southerly along the centerlme of Proctor Road/Avenue to the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad tracks, thence southerly along the centerline of the BNSF tracks to Lowell Avenue thence southwesterly to Mare Street, there terminating.
