Hiring Employees
In response to the City Council's authorization to hire a Maintenance I
person and one additional summer employee, I have offered the position of
Maintenance I to Don Birdsal, the second place candidate from our October
interviews. Don would start in two weeks at a wage of $9.43 per hour with
an increase to $9.88 per hour after completing a six month orientation period.
Don has asked for the weekend to discuss this decision with family members,
so I will give the Council a verbal update at Monday's meeting. If Don does
not accept the position, we will need to advertise immediately and go through
the interview process.
I would also like to proceed with hiring our part time summer employees.
One local youth that worked with us last year will be returning, plus a recent
graduate from Big Lake will be joining our staff. By Monday's meeting I will
have the names of the last two summer workers to share with the Council.
These four youth will fill the positions of two recreation department
employees that will do primarily field maintenance, one usual street/park
summer worker, and the one additional worker that the Council authorized
on 5/26/98.
We look forward to having these people start work as soon as possible.
